What is Reiki?

REIKI is a Japanese term (pronounced ray – key).
The term rei means “universal” and ki is similar to chi, meaning “life energy.”
Therefore, the terms together are often translated as “universal life energy” or
“spiritually directed life force energy.”

Reiki is a method of Natural Healing that empowers the individual to heal
the body, mind, emotions and spirit. It involves gentle hand placement on
the body, while fully clothed. It is not a form of massage, but rather a form
of energy balancing within the chakra system. Reiki can be used as a
method for self-healing and for working with others.

Reiki Principles - USUI SHIKI RYOHO

Just for today, let go of anger.
Just for today, let go of worry.
Just for today, do your (spiritual) work honestly.
Honor your parents, teachers and elders.
Show gratitude and respect to everything.
~Adapted from Mikao Usui

Philosophy of Reiki:

   • The body has an innate wisdom to heal itself, as does every living
      thing in nature.
   • Reiki restores balance, which enhances the body’s ability to naturally
      heal itself.
   • Reiki is a healing energy, which is transferred through gentle hand
positions with the intention of healing for the highest good of the person.
   • Reiki can also be used for preventive care – such as relaxation, stress
reduction and spiritual development. Balancing life energy allows us to
      maintain health and vitality.
   • Reiki can be used in conjunction with regular medical care. Reiki is
currently being used in medical settings as a complementary therapy
for reducing pain, aiding in recovery for surgeries, cancer treatments,
heart patients, child birth, hospice, and for chronic pain conditions
      related to stress.

Examples of possible treatments using Reiki:

   • Preventative Care: Relaxation, Stress Reduction, Meditation, and
Spiritual Development helps to keep your body in balance.

   • Stress related issues with stomach, head, back, etc. can respond
very quickly in one or two sessions. (A change in lifestyle will be
needed to keep them from recurring!)

   • Chronic pain conditions may need several treatments on a weekly
or daily basis for a longer period of time. This is up to the individual’s
goals for healing, not dependant on the practitioner.

   • Fractures and sprains – once it is set can accelerate healing process.

   • Medical interventions – preparing for surgery and to help alleviate pain.

   • Emotional and Mental Health - to help heal imbalances & reduce stress.

   • Cancer – can help reduce side effects of radiation & chemotherapy,
and can help with emotional healing needed while going through this
      process.

   • Childbirth – support the mother by helping her to relax, breathe easier,
and focus which can help alleviate some of the pain and anxiety.

   • Hospice Care – offer moments of peace; ease pain and anxiety. If
offered to the family and friends, can help ease the emotional loss.

What can I expect during a Reiki Healing Session?

The session begins with a brief guided meditation to relax your body,
quiet your mind and focus inward. The practitioner works on the front
and back of the body by placing her hands for several minutes on
specific body positions to release and balance your energy. During
the session, you are fully clothed while lying on a massage table. Reiki
can also be done while sitting in a chair for a shorter treatment.

The length of the sessions can vary depending on your healing needs
and goals. A typical 1-hour session includes a guided meditation, a
full body treatment, and time to process your experience before and
after the treatment. Spiritual Counseling can be offered to support you
in your healing journey in order to process some of the healing insights
that arise for you.

What happens after a Reiki session?

As a session ends, most people feel very relaxed and peaceful. Usually
insights arise to help you understand your own healing process. Internal
guidance for your healing process can continue to come into your
awareness throughout the next week. Emotional balancing, heightened
awareness, intuitive responses and vivid dreams are all normal after a
Reiki session. It is important to drink plenty of water to aid the body
in restoring balance. Scheduling future Reiki Sessions is up to the
healing goals of the individual. This can be done on a weekly, monthly
or as needed basis. Some people choose to become trained in Reiki to
be able to deepen their self-healing journey on a daily basis.

Scheduling and Pricing for Classes

Christine is a Reiki Master Practitioner and Teacher that is dedicated
to the personal growth and training of her students. Training is often
taught on an individual basis or in small groups to ensure personal
attention. Christine is committed to teaching students that understand
that true healing comes from within. She teaches in a manner that
creates a mentoring relationship for support and guidance through
your journey. Christine teaches this as a path of self-healing and
service. Due to the individual attention given during training,
pricing and class size may differ from other practitioners.

Christine also teaches this class with Reiki Level 1 focusing on only
self-healing, and Reiki Level 2 introduces working with others. Being a
practitioner means that you develop and practice your own spiritual
discipline on a daily basis, it does not imply that one has to work with
others. This is a difference from other practitioners that allows the
student to develop a personal relationship with reiki and their own healing
process, and to proceed with training at a comfortable pace. Christine
encourages one to interview and ask questions of each teacher to find
the one that is most appropriate for your learning goals.

Optional and highly recommended to deepen ones personal journey
is to have 1-2 Individual Sessions prior to starting the class, and a
session one month after finishing the class.
